Naturalist Trip - Center for Urban Horticulture

Lets go birding. Enjoy a morning stroll through the Yesler Swamp and Union Bay Natural Area (Montlake Fill) as we search, listen for and identify birds. Everyone is welcome, begining through experienced birders. This is an opporunity to learn from each other.

  • Mileage: 2.0 mi
  • Pace: 1.5 mph

The goal is birding.  We will walk together at a slow pace and stop often to listen and search for birds.  We'll start at the Yesler Swamp them stop by the restrooms about 9am on our way to the Union Bay Natural Area.

Bring binoculars, warm clothes and a spotting scope if you have one.

We will meet at 8:00am at the Soest Garden Fountain, 3501 NE 41st St. Seattle WA 98105.  The fountain is located just east of the building in the garden area.  The restrooms are in the building but the building doesn't open until 9am.  Unfortunately there is no convenient place to pull off the trail for a bio break so please stop at a location along the way to use the restroom before you arrive.  We will, however, stop by the restroom about 9am as we head toward the Union Bay Natural Area.
