============

Panorama Point is considered the high point of the Paradise Area, and on a clear day offers wonderful views of  the Tatoosh Range and surrounding area.  The area is very popular on nice winter weekends, so we will go on a date that is an in-town day for many (Easter Sunday) to  avoid peak crowds.

This is a moderate pace trip on a moderate route.   The tentative plan is to arrive at Panorama Point in around 2 1/2 to 3 hours, though that will vary depending on conditions.  Portions of the route are steep, and we'll likely be using ice axes for some sections (especially if there are students on the trip).

Because this is a late season trip we may be traveling on consolidated snow.  Please bring microspikes (or equivalent) in addition to your snowshoes, and expect that we will be doing some traveling with our snowshoes attached to our packs.

This is intended to be a fun low-key trip to get out and enjoy the winter scenery.  We will go if conditions are less than perfect, but will cancel if conditions are are likely to be no-fun.  This is not a go-no-matter-what trip.

Drivers:  If you have an AWD or 4WD vehicle please offer to drive in the carpool! Depending on the weather the road to Paradise can be tricky in a 2WD vehicle, so the more winter-capable vehicles we have the better.  The Park Service requires that all cars carry chains.  They do check sometimes so be prepared.

The trip leader will send an email with additional info on Friday after registration closes.

As with all winter trips, weather and avalanche conditions are factors.  The trip may be moved or cancelled if conditions are unsafe or unfavorable .  If there are changes the trip leader will try to give as much advance notice as possible.
