CLG Update 9:30 PM 12/29/2011 It is very unlikely we’ll be making an attempt on Rampart Ridge (or just below it) due to the forecasted avalanche risk and difficulty with deep snow. As an alternative, please be prepared to snowshoe up toward Nordic Pass from the Hyak area. Nordic Pass is the saddle SE of the word “Olallie Meadow” on the USGS Map. It is NW of Mt Catherine and south of Radio Mountain.

MEETING PLACE:
Meet inside the Issquah Transit Center parking garage on the first floor in the Northeast corner at 7:00 AM.

GEAR:
- Ice Axe is always required.
- MSR snowshoes are required. No Atlas or Tubbs. Call me if you have another brand that you have used on steep terrain and you think they will be ok.
- Crampons are absolutely required for this trip. Yak Traks and Microspikes do not count, but short-tooth aluminum crampons are ok.
- Avalanche Becon is optional but is highly recommended on all winter trips.
- Avalanche shovel and/or probe are optional, but we should have 4 of each for the group.

Parking permit:
Snowpark Permits are required for Gold Creek snow park. We will purchase them on the way, if needed (probably at the Shell station at the North Bend Truck stop

NOTE: If avalance conditions are not appropriate for our intended route (ie Low or Moderate), we will snowshoe up toward Mt Catherine from between the Summit Central and Summit West ski areas. In the event of heavy nasty rain, the trip will change to an umbrella hike up either Mt Si or Tiger Mountain based on group interest.
