This isn't particularly difficult. We'll take the road the whole way unless peole are feeling really fit then we'd take the Grindstone trail which is a bit steeper but cuts off about a mile of road switchbacks. It is five miles each way and you need to allow a full day to stroll up there and enjoy a bit of lunch and views. WARNING: It always seems further coming back down than going up ...go figure. Snow on the roads is hard to figure ahead of time and often only the hard core 4x4 can get to the closed gate. If roads are iffy, we'll park further down the road. Mowich is the ultimate destination but there's no reason we can't get some good exercise and fresh air if we don't make it that far due to the longer distance. We'll call it a Mowich Area snowshoe trip. Lots of drink, a good lunch and all ten essentials are required. We're on a well frquented road but distance and winter conditions make this the type of outing where the unprepared can pay the price.
