Intermediate Snowshoe - Mount St. Helens/Worm Flows

Canceled due to road conditions making trailhead inaccessible. Classic winter route up to the summit of Mount St. Helens before permitting begins. Beautiful views and conditioning for Mount Rainier attempt.

We will meet up at the Marble  Mountain Sno-park at 5 AM. Recommend car camping the night before.  We will gear-up, brief, and start down the trail by 5:30.

The expected pace will be 2-2.5 mph on the lower slopes and then 1.0-1.5 mph once the serious climbing beings (roughly 3 miles in). 


Please note the required gear for this trip. Crampons are required in the event there are sections too icy for snowshoes. All participants are expected to have full avy gear (beacon, shovel, probe) and have full knowledge of how to use them.

Leader Permission Required

Participants must verify they have the gear and the training to venture into avalanche terrain. Avalanche awareness is not sufficient. Participants must be prepared for the high level of conditioning needed for the climb. Recent trip history should support this.
