One purpose of this snowshoeing trip is to look for & record animal tracks of threatened / endangered species, supporting efforts of Conservation NW. Leader is certified in animal track & sign identification, and will share animal tracking tips. If tracks of target species are seen, we will stop a few minutes each to record & photograph them – this is a higher priority than the summit, but is not expected to preclude reaching the summit.
Note map for start / end points, which are different than historically done for this destination, due to the closure of the former Price Creek Sno-Park. As a result, we will not be taking FS roads on the ascent; instead we will be doing more of a straight-line route to the summit, largely avoiding roads. We likely will take roads for the descent, but overall the trip will be more strenuous than typical for this destination when following roads.
