The nights are long this time of year, but December 28 has a full moon which may provide spectacular views of Mount Rainier and a chance for a moonlight snowshoe stroll. This is a 2-night snow camping snowshoe trip. We will be tent camping (not snow caves). Leader permission and prior snow camping experience required. E-mail the leader for further information on required experience. The destination is subject to change based on conditions and the opening time for the Longmire gate. Possible alternative destinations include Reflection Lakes and Rampart Ridge. Note that hard sided food containers are now required by the Park Service: http://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/winter-recreation.htm#CP_JUMP_230057 All vehicles must carry chains past Longmire (even AWD vehicles).
