This will be a bit more than the Mazama easy route. We will go a little further and probably stay out a little longer than that route. You might want to consider this more of a moderate than an easy outing. We WILL go slow and the slowest person will set out speed. Expect this to take the whole afternoon and get back to the cars at dark. You should make sure you have a functioning headlamp. We will go rain or shine but will consider the weather when we actually get there. If the Paradise gate is closed, we will still find a hike or snowshoe in the Longmire area. I would think, to be comfortable, that participants should have SOME snowshoe experience but you need not be expert. It's February in Washington. Plan for all extremes in weather. Bring a lunch and plenty of liquids. Poles are nice but not required. If you do not already have a map, do not buy one. I will print one for each participant but I do expect you to have a compass and know how to use it. If you are coming from a location where the arranged meeting location won't work, contact me before signing up to see if we can meet closer to the park. The park is a fee area and carpooling and fee sharing is suggested. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about the trip. Contacting me by e-mail is best:
