9:15 AM at Olympic National Park Visitor Center, located in Port Angeles
On a good day, this fairly easy ridge walk offers spectacular views of the Olympics and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. On a not-so-good day...well, that's why it's called Hurricane Hill! Round-trip distance and gain are 7 miles (approx.) and 1100'. Difficulty rating for this trip is MODERATE (ice axe REQUIRED), but it's an easy moderate. Bring wind, sun, and rain protection...y'never know what you'll get on this one. Meeting place, Olympic National Park Visitor Center, is located in Port Angeles. If using the Edmonds-Kingston ferry, take the 7:10 a.m. boat. National Park Pass (or entrance fee) required per vehicle.
