The snowshoe hike begins with a short, steep descent and then wanders over pretty level terrain, with some rolling hills in a eastward direction arriving under the flank of jagged Steeple Rock. The Waterhole is the first destination, (3.5 mi) where you’ll pass a broad sheltered forest clearing with good scenery. Then you’ll continue to the flank of Eagle Point (4.5 mi), a 6247’ summit towering over the trail. Must be proficient in ice axe self arrest techniques. This snowshoe outing is being held in lieu of the Deer Park snowshoe activity (which was cancelled because of excessive snow accumulations on road leading to trialhead).
