The primary purpose of this trip is to look for & record animal tracks of threatened / endangered species, supporting efforts of Conservation NW. Leader is certified in animal track & sign identification, and will share animal tracking tips. If tracks of target species are seen, we will stop 5 minutes each to record & photograph them – this is a higher priority than the summit, but is not expected to preclude reaching the summit.
If avalanche hazard is too high (which is certainly possible), the backup destination is a one-way traverse with car shuttle, from the Silver Fir to Summit West ski areas, connecting Hyak Lake, Divide Lake & Lodge Lake (lower mileage & elevation gain).
A Sno-Park permit is required for parking for the primary destination of Amabilis Mtn (Cabin Creek Sno-Park). No sno-park permit is required for the backup destination.
