This is a two day climb up the Leuthold Couloir with plans to camp at Illumination Saddle. We will switch to a one day climb if weather significantly favors one day over the other. The location is also subject to change based on weather or avalanche conditions.
Must be AIARE 1 certified.
Required Equipment
- The Ten Essentials
- Full shank mountaineering boots that can accept crampons (not hiking boots)
- Crampons (steel with sharp front points)
- An ice axe and ice tool
- Avalanche beacon, probe, and shovel
- A sleeping bag rated to +15 degrees or colder
- A sleeping pad
- Personal toiletries
- A back pack (40 to 60 liters)
- Webbing and accessory cords
- 6 straight gate carabiners
- 2-3 locking carabiners
- Large pear-shaped locking carabiner
- Belay device
- Climbing harness
- Helmet
- Rescue pulley
- Fleece or puffy jacket
- Rain jacket and full-zip rain pants
- Belay gloves
- Warm gloves or mittens
- Cordellete
- Picket or other relevant protection
