This is a two day climb up the Leuthold Couloir with plans to camp at Illumination Saddle. We will switch to a one day climb if weather significantly favors one day over the other. The location is also subject to change based on weather or avalanche conditions.

Must be AIARE 1 certified.

  • Full shank mountaineering boots that can accept crampons (not hiking boots)
  • Crampons (steel with sharp front points)
  • An ice axe and ice tool
  • Avalanche beacon, probe, and shovel
  • A sleeping bag rated to +15 degrees or colder
  • A sleeping pad
  • Personal toiletries
  • A back pack (40 to 60 liters)
  • Webbing and accessory cords
  • 6 straight gate carabiners
  • 2-3 locking carabiners
  • Large pear-shaped locking carabiner
  • Belay device
  • Climbing harness
