Mount Adams Ice Climbing Routes


Intermediate Alpine Climb - Mount Adams/Adams Glacier

We will climb the Adams Glacier. Thorough preparation and attention to your conditioning is mandatory; otherwise this trip is typically suitable for a first Intermediate Alpine experience.

Registration will open on May 28.  Please don't be offended if I do not respond to emails related to this climb that are sent prior to that date.

If we have climbed together, you have "leader's permission" to register yourself for this climb.  If we have not, please send a note describing how you know you are prepared for this trip and for climbing this route.

Trip will depart Saturday June 12 and make a camp after a few hours of approach.  Sunday we will alpine start and attempt to reach the summit before returning to break down camp and get back to the trailhead.

  • The Ten Essentials
  • Suitable boots and crampons
  • An ice axe and a technical ice tools, or two technical tools
  • A sleeping bag rated to +20 degrees or colder
  • A sleeping pad
  • A back pack 
  • Gear necessary to participate in crevasse rescue
  • Belay device
  • Climbing harness
  • Helmet
  • Gloves
  • Picket or other relevant protection, such as ice screws, as assigned through the group's pre-trip discussions
  • Group gear to assist with water farming, as assigned through the group's pre-trip discussions
