Top rope belay or lead belay certification at Edgeworks OR the ability to pass the top rope belay test upon arrival is required. No instruction will be provided. Note that Edgeworks requires the use of an assisted braking belay device.
These training sessions are best suited to intermediate and advanced level climbers. Ability to climb routes graded 5.9 without falling is recommended.
We will meet at 6pm, then split into groups of 2-3 based on preferences for top rope or lead climbing. Workouts will take around 3 hours to complete depending on group size and speed. Workouts can be scaled to your climbing grade and fitness by choosing easier/harder routes & by completing more/less sets of drills & exercises.
This week’s workout:
- Warm-up: 3 routes of increasing difficulty
- Drill: Sloth-Monkey - climb one route slowly, then climb the same route fast
- Projecting: Try 3 routes that are the harder than you've ever tried before. Try to find routes with different hold types and wall angles. The goal is NOT to make it to the top of the climb. The goal is to try really hard on some difficult moves.
- Cool down: 2 easy/fun routes
