Preparedness I understand that this trip requires excellent aerobic conditioning, balance, the skills and gear to pack appropriately, and that I will need to carry an overnight pack with confidence for 10-15 miles per day for multiple days in a row on sometimes very rugged terrain, including steep scree and boulders, moderate exposure and sometimes extended periods of cold wet weather. I certify that I will be prepared with the experience, skills, conditioning, balance, and gear to meet the requirements of this trip.

Route I understand that the route will involve extended rugged boulder and scree crossings and some moderately exposed sections with the aid of a fixed line. I also understand that this is not a scramble trip and participants may not have the opportunity to summit if the route is not within the capabilities of everyone in the group.

Gear I understand that I will be expected to provide my own overnight gear and clothing that is suitable for extended periods of cold wet weather and rugged terrain.

Accommodations I understand that this trip requires bringing and camping in my own tent or a shared tent with my own pad and sleeping bag, potentially in wet weather.

Food I understand that the variety of food provided to us and the ability to meet special dietary preferences may be limited, particularly for vegan, paleo, and keto diets.

Travel Documents I understand that I will be required to hold up to date travel documents and international medical insurance and emergency evacuation insurance for the trip, at my own expense. The evacuation insurance should be sufficient to get me back to the hospital of my choice in the United States.

Teamwork I understand that this is a group trip, and that participants will look out for and support each other on the trail. Pace, daily start-end times, route, and side trips will be driven by the needs of the group and conditions on the ground. Participants will be expected to stay within voice contact of everyone else in the group at all times.

Leadership I understand that safety and well-being of participants comes first and the itinerary and route may change without prior notice based on conditions. While participant input will be valued, the Mountaineers trip leader will be the ultimate decision maker.

Responsibility I understand that the Mountaineers trip leader is not a guide and that I am responsible to know the route and where I am along the way at all times.

Fitness and Medical Conditions I commit to providing a doctor’s certification of medical fitness if requested, and to disclose to the leader and outfitter in advance of the trip about any recent injuries, surgeries, allergies, medications or medical conditions that could impact me on the trip.

COVID-19 Prevention I understand that I am required to be fully vaccinated to participate in this trip; that I will practice conservative COVID-19 behavior before and during transit to the trip including masking and avoiding crowded indoor spaces whenever possible; and that I will carry COVID-19 self-tests on this trip and use them at any time when I experience a symptom potentially related to COVID-19. I understand that any positive test means that I will need to leave the group and quarantine at my own expense for at least 5 days (or longer if not symptom free) before flying home.

Behavior I commit to behave during the trip in a careful and safe manner, to communicate to the leader promptly about any illness or injury, and to put my health and safety and that of my fellow group members first even if this means having to turn around or exit the trip early.

Cancellation Fees I understand that if I cancel from this adventure more than 60 days before the departure date, I may receive a refund less a $600 cancellation fee; if I cancel between 59 and 30 days before the departure date, the cancellation fee increases to $1,000; and if I cancel less than 30 days before the departure date, there will be no refund.
