Required Equipment

  • The Ten Essentials
  • Mountain boots that can accept crampons 
  • Crampons
  • An ice axe (not technical ice tools)
  • Overnight gear for snow camping
  • A sleeping bag rated to +20 degrees or colder
  • A sleeping pad
  • Bivy system/ tent to share
  • Stove/ fuel/ pot system 
  • Standard glacier climbing gear: climbing harness, helmet
  • Crevasse rescue system: prussiks, pulley, lockers, biners, cord/ draws
  • Picket with double runner and biners
  • A back pack (try to keep it at 40 liters or less)
  • Trekking poles
