Frontcountry Trail Run - Terrace Trail & De Leo Wall Loop

Frontcountry Trail Run - Terrace Trail & De Leo Wall Loop

Last minute Thurs morning Cougar run - but not too early. And not too fast. And not too much elevation. And not too much there ever too much coffee? `5-6 miles depending upon how we all feel. Did I say not too fast?

COVID-19: Learn about our most up-to-date guidance for participants and leaders on our COVID-19 Response page. All participants and leaders must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct before participating in this Mountaineers activity.
  • *Varies*
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,500 ft
  • Pace: 4 mph

Meet at 6:55 am at Cross Town Trail by Beit Tikvah Synagogue at 7935 136th Ave SE in Newcastle. Parking on street. Following introductions, description of route and current trail conditions, please plan to start running at 7:00 am. There are no public bathrooms at the trail head or anywhere on the route.

We'll stick together as a group at about ~3.5-4 mph uphill until we get to the De Leo Wall Lookout, stop for a few min, then tally ho until we cut back and end up at the water tower. After taking a quick break, we'll head down the Terrace Trail to 144th Place SE, then take back roads to where we started. The trail is mostly narrow, so single file. Please meet at the trailhead at 6:55 am so we can meet with introductions, discuss conditions on the trail and group goals, and start by 7 am.

Please contact the leader before registering if you have not recently done a trail run of similar mileage and elevation gain, and have any doubt about your fitness and stamina to keep up. Also, if you are a fast runner and feel ~3.5-5 mph with a couple of stops along the trail is insufficient of a work-out for you, please consider if this trip is a good match for your abilities. We run as a group.

All participants and leaders must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct before attending an in-person Mountaineers activity during our COVID-19 response. Please remove yourself from any upcoming activity if you are unable or unwilling to follow The Mountaineers guidance at the time of the program.
