Talapus Lake trailhead, ready to run at 4:00pm. Northwest Forest Pass usually required for this trailhead, which has an outhouse although I don't know its status.
Trip reports at WTA.org say that the Forest Service Road 9030 is bumpy and has potholes, a little bit of snow.
Driving directions from WTA: From Seattle, head east on I-90 to exit 45. Turn left, and drive under the freeway on FR 9030. In 1 mile follow the road around to the right at a junction. Continue straight on a gravel, sometimes severely potholed road to the trailhead at the road's end.
Bring microspikes (like these Kahtoola ones), an extra layer, and a headlamp since we'll finish in the twilight/darkness.
There is packed snow on part of this trail.
