Fill your punch-card with most Cougar Mountain trails on this 8 1/2 mile meandering evening trail run with 1,900 feet of elevation gain. Start at Red Town Trail, head up to Military Road Trail, on to Sky Country, Coyote Creek, Lost Beagle, Shangri-La, Surprise Creek and then connecting back to Shangri-La. Then loop back through Bear Ridge, West-Tibbetts Creek, Tibbetts Marsh, East Fork, Fred's Railroad, Quarry, and back to the trailhead through Red Town. Run 10 trails, get one free!

Meet at 5:50 pm at Red Town Trailhead off Newcastle Golf Club Road in Bellevue. Parking on street. Following introductions, description of route and current trail conditions, please plan to start running at 6:00 pm. Public restrooms at trail head..

Red Town Trail is named after a mining town by the same name that existed in the late 1800's. The houses were mainly red, hence the name, and served as a railroad depot where coal was carted from the nearby mines to Lake Washington. Other than the houses there was a large hotel in the town which you can still see the boiler rooms foundation.

We'll stick together as a group at about ~4 mph uphill uand ~5 mph downhill. Since we will be connecting to so many different trails through Cougar Mountain, will be important for group to stay within eye site of one another so no one gets lost.

Please contact the leader before registering if you have not recently done a trail run of similar mileage and elevation gain, and have any doubt about your fitness and stamina to keep up. Also, if you are a fast runner and feel ~4-5 mph with a couple of stops along the trail is insufficient of a work-out for you, please consider if this trip is a good match for your abilities. We run as a group. 

TRAIL RUNNING UNDER COVID 19:

All participants and leaders must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct before attending an in-person Mountaineers activity during our COVID-19 response. By proceeding with any of the upcoming activities you are already registered to attend, you affirm that you have reviewed The Mountaineers COVID-19 Code of Conduct and the guidance for participants and leaders available on the COVID-19 Response page, and you agree to follow this guidance during each activity. Please remove yourself from any upcoming activity if you are unable or unwilling to follow The Mountaineers guidance at the time of the program.

All participants will need to have a face covering (mask, bandanna or muff) and hand sanitizer. Wherever possible, all group member will maintain the 6 ft minimum social distancing protocol and be ready to pull up face covering over mouth and nose when this is not possible passing others on the trail and at the trailhead. Please also bring a headlamp just in case.
