Carkeek Park

Frontcountry Trail Run - Carkeek Park

Lazy Sunday run at Carkeek with an attempt at a Carkeek to Golden Garden's Beach run :) There might be cool tide pools, but I can't guarantee it.

We will meet at 10:30am at the Carkeek Park Fire Pit. Parking may be tricky, and you may need to walk/run a bit extra to get to the meeting location, so arrive early!

We'll start with a ~3 mile (and somewhat hilly) loop around Carkeek Park. We can walk up hills if needed. After our warmup, we will hit the beach and attempt to make it to Golden Gardens where we will say hi to the ducks before heading back.

If the tides are favorable, we should checkout the tide pools (ie the run will be over once we hit Golden Gardens). If the tides are unfavorable and the beach is covered in dead slimy plants or the tide comes up on us too fast, we can turn around early. If we are somehow trapped (!) there is a reasonable urban route back to Carkeek.

Rough Gaia Route

Low Tide will be at 12:25pm. If the pools are present, we can do more of a beach comb on the way back. You may want to pack water-friendly shoes

Unfortunately, I don't think the tide will be low enough for the super awesome tide pools to appear, but I would encourage people to checkout the beach on Saturday (7/24) since the pools normally appear at -3ft.

While we are on the beach, there will be a lot of sun exposure, so bring sun protection and hydration.

Note: I will be out of town on July 24, so I won't be able to respond to last minute questions until that evening.
