Flatwater Packraft - Leque Island Wildlife Area

An exploratory trip to the Leque Island wildlife area and wetlands. I anticipate rapturous light from the low and setting sun of a fall day.

This is an exploratory trip.  Good conditions for this trip are high tide and a clear winter day.  Sunday is forecast to be clear and high tide is about 5:30pm.  About as good as it gets.

I anticipate that we will launch from Eide Rd and paddle around Leque Island, perhaps paddling over some wetlands flooded by high tide.  Possibly there may be some short carries over sturdy, veggitated ground.  In the worse case, there may be some soft mud “travel”.

Exploratory trip plans are only good up to encounter with the land.

Bring a HEADLAMP!

Meet at the Eide Rd parking on the eastern edge of Leque Island for a 2:30pm launch.  (Read:  arrive before 2:00 or earlier as needed).  Driving east from Stanwood, cross the bridge.  Take a left onto Eide road.  You’ll soon come to a parking area.  That is where we will meet.  78% chance of a toilet at this location.  (Map)
