This hike will be my mentored hike to qualify for my hike leader badge. I've hiked this in the past and scouted it early this July to get updated conditions. We'll hike a section on the east side of the lake, 6 miles round trip out and back. The path meanders through beautiful woods with peek-a-boo views of the lake. We'll start out with a short climb to get above the lake level, and continue on with a variety of ups and downs tho not too steep, along with flatter periods. There is a short section that is steeper/rocky, if you use hiking poles they might be helpful here. Overall the trail is rather 'brushy' this year with bit of of blackberry and nettle so best to dress accordingly. There's a large root ball on the path just before our lunch spot but it can be walked around. Our goal is to enjoy a nice Washington summer in the woods with like minded folks.
Leader will determine a convienent carpool meeting location in Olympia, and include information in email to participants prior to the hike. All roads to trailhead are paved.
