Those interested in a longer night's sleep the night before the hike may want to arrange to camp or stay in a hotel along the way.  The leader will help to coordinate carpools and overnight arrangements as needed.

This is a no-nonsense trail for people who are very fit and up for a physical challenge - 15 miles, nearly 4000 feet of elevation gain, and short days to boot;  but the rewards are immense:   larch color, a lovely high lake under Mount Stuart, and solitude!  This trail can be hot and dry on warm clear days.

Leader permission is required; please apply only if you are interested and capable of traveling at a brisk pace on steep uphill trail with few rest stops.

The leader will provide detail in emails a week before the trip to assist with gear planning based on the latest weather forecast.  At the very least you will need your ten essentials including cold weather gear, raingear and a very bright headlamp.

This time of year it is always possible that early snow or inclement weather can result in cancellation or change of destination.
