This easy to moderate hike has minimal elevation gain and passes through both old growth and deciduous forests. A park bench overlooking the canyon at the half-way point is a good place for a rest stop enroute to the lunch stop, which also has a nice view of the canyon. Portions of the trail are muddy following rainy periods. Excellent, clean restrooms are at both the trailhead and the meeting place. A short optional stroll to a viewpoint overlooking Mud Mountain Dam is available at the end of the hike.
