Trip
Day Hike - Whidbey Island West Shore
Our first stop will be Deer lagoon, an excellent birding locale. We will then continue to the bluffs & bay at Double Bluff. The bluff represents one of the best exposures (outcrop) of glacier deposits in Puget Sound. This sequence is made up of glacial, glacial-marine, and non-glacial sediments that were deposited between 290,000 and 11,000 years ago. We will walk the beach & examine the bluffs & also view the many ducks in the bay.
