Day Hike - West Tiger Mountain No. 3

We will hike up the main West Tiger 3 trail - an enjoyable springtime hike through lush forest, with some views at the very top. Moderate pace. The new paved access road and parking lot at the trailhead are worth checking out.

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 6.4 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,054 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 2,522 ft
  • Pace: 1200ft/hr gain @ 2mi/hr

Meet at the High Point trailhead at 7:30am.    This trailhead is accessed via exit 20 off I-90 and is the main trailhead for West Tiger 3.    We will meet at the new parking lot at the very end of the paved access road.

The trailhead is about a mile in from I-90 exit 20.  (Just east of Issaquah take I-90, Exit 20, then turn south and then take an immediate right onto SE 79th Street and head west parallel to I-90 to the High Point Trailhead.)   There are toilets at the trailhead.     Bring a good map as the area has a dense network of often-unsigned trails - I recommend GT Tiger Mountain 204S.

I will be wearing a red shirt/red jacket, just like in my profile photo.    We will leave for the hike at 7:45am.

We will maintain a moderate pace - this will not leave much time for photo stops.    (No dogs or firearms permitted.)

Bring microspikes - it could be snowy towards the top and the trail can easily get slippery in wet or snowy conditions.   Hiking poles a must-have.
