Trip was changed from Bald Rock at the last minute due to a forecast of 3" of rain.  Here is the original Bald rock posting:

Bald Rock is in the southeast part of Mount Rainier National Park.  Our route will start near the Stevens Canyon park entrance station where the road east from Paradise joins the road south from Cayuse Pass.  We will hike up the Cowlitz Divide trail about 4 miles up to the Wonderland trail, then follow it north a bit to the ridge that runs east out to Bald Rock.  We follow that ridge to the summit.  We will either return the same way, or if the conditions are dry, we will short-cut down the forested slope down to the Cowlitz Divide trail and back to the cars.

When we get back to the cars, if the weather is decent and folks are up to it, we might take a walk around the "Grove of the Patriarchs", which is a stand of big old trees near where we park.
