EARLY SEASON CONDITIONING HIKE. We'll take this strenuous 8.4 mile, 2700 feet elevation gain out-and-back hike at a brisk pace for good exercise while enjoying three panoramic viewpoints and lovely forest.

9AM at the Chirico Trailhead parking lot on Issaquah-Hobart Road, just south of Seattle Paragliding.  Participants are encouraged to connect with each other to arrange carpools.

We will start at the parasail parking area (Chirico Trailhead), first hike up to Poo Poo Point, then follow West Tiger RR Grade to the One View Trail, go right on the  Tiger Mountain Trail for .1 miles to the Hidden Forest Trail, and take Hidden Forest left for .2 miles to the Main Tiger Mountain Road.  We'll follow the road north for .7 miles to an unnamed junction, then east for about .1 miles to the West Tiger 1 Hikers Hut and viewpoint.  We'll return by the same route (or options exist to loop around to the Poo Top trail if conditions aren't too icy).

This is a conditioning hike so participants should be in good condition to hike on a fairly steep grade at a brisk pace (2-2.5 mph) with few rest stops.  Please do not sign up for this hike if you haven't hiked at this pace on a strenuous route comfortably in the recent past.

We will hike rain or shine, so good raingear, non-cotton layers, warm hat and gloves, and sturdy waterproof footwear with thick grippy soles are a must.  This trail can get muddy and there could be snow on the upper traces - I will let participants know in advance if microspikes are advised.  Trekking poles are a very good idea as some steep parts can be slippery.

Be aware that there is a section of road walking at the end of the hike - it's a gravel road through forest and I've never seen a vehicle on it.

Map and compass and familiarity with our route are mandatory - if people get separated from the group the Tiger Mountain trail system can be a maze, very easy to get lost!
