Winter Conditioning Hike hosted by Foothills Branch but open members of all branches!
A loop hike that will take us across a large high bridge, and then a fairly steep (1300 feet in 1 mile) route up to West Tiger 2. We will walk the road past Hiker's Hut Viewpoint of the Olympics and Mt. Rainier, and then over the summit of West Tiger 1. We will visit a massive view featuring everything from the Olympics, Seattle, and Puget Sound, to Mt. Baker, Glacier Peak to Mount Si! We will hike back the TMT and High Point Trails to complete the loop.
Pace will be around 2 to 2.5 mph up until we reach the snow, then will likely be a bit slower in the snow. Route may be adjusted based on the conditions that are presented to us along the way. Please see required gear tab below to be prepared to hike in the snow (boots, traction, gaiters, poles, etc). We are meeting early to allow extra time and to give people time to enjoy the pretty evening afterwards.
Required Equipment
Snow Gear:
Hiking boots - actual boots, waterproof
Microspikes/yak trax, etc. - some sort of traction
Snow Gaiters - keep deeper snow out of your boots
Trekking poles recommended
