Day Hike - West Tiger Mountain 1 & 2

After-hours Conditioning Hike at a Moderate Pace

  • Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,700 ft
  • Pace: 2.2 mph avg moving pace

We will do a lollipop loop that incorporates the summits of West Tiger 1 and 2, ascending via the Tiger Mountain Trail and descending via the West Tiger #2 Trail. Bring a sack dinner to eat while we enjoy the views.

Gates to the parking lot close at dusk, but we'll target to be back to the cars by sunset at the latest. It can get dark early under the trees, so be sure to have a headlamp.

"After Hours Conditioning Hike at a Moderate Pace" is not a series anyone joins. It is a label so people understand that our goal is to:

  • Condition for summer hiking - these are "real" hikes. If you do not have a pack with appropriate gear, you are not conditioning.
  • Our pace is moderate - about 2 mph (travel time). We have a time constraint in that we need to be back at the cars before dark. Sometimes we need to be back before a gate is locked, If you do not know if you can maintain that pace, please cancel and sign up for a morning hike. That way you can time yourself without getting an entire group's cars locked in overnight.
  • The hikes are after-hours. Please cancel and sign up for a day hike if you do not like to hike in the evening.

The hikes are open to all members for whom those goals are a good fit.

Tradition Lake/Tiger Mountain Trailhead, 4:30 pm.
