Tunnel Creek

Day Hike - Tunnel Creek

Gobble Gobble - the Saturday after Thanksgiving, would you rather be shopping or hiking? Yeah, me too. So let’s head out for a day hike to 5050 Pass via the Tunnel Creek trailhead, weather permitting. We’ll minimize stops and maintain a steady pace to keep warm.

COVID-19: Learn about our most up-to-date guidance for participants and leaders on our COVID-19 Response page. All participants and leaders must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct before participating in this Mountaineers activity.
  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,450 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 mph

We’ll meet at 5:45am, ready to depart at 6:00am, at the South Hill Park and Ride, 9th Street SW and 31st Avenue SW (formerly known as 94th Street SW and 104 Street E - the City of Puyallup incorporated the area, hence the new street names and confusion).  This is the Park and Ride on the North side of Hwy 512 and we’ll meet in the NW area of the lot, look for the Red Ford Explorer.  Carpools are encouraged but not required.

This is a new area for me, so we’ll be learning together.  If you are inclined to drive, a NW Forest Pass or Interagency Pass is required.  Plan for an all-day event, with a stop for a post-hike treat if everyone is agreeable.
