Tubal Cain Trail to the Tubal Cain mine. 7.0-8.0 miles round trip. 1050- 1200 ft elevation gain. The trail traverses second growth forest filled with wild rhododendrons that bloom in early summer. It then climbs to the Tubal Cain Mine: remains of a copper and magnesium mine that was abandoned. Another .5 mile along the trail opens up into alpine meadows. If the trail is snow free, we will hike to the meadows. This hike will be the last this year to view the Wild Rhododendron and a chance to view early wildflowers. This is a naturalist hike and we will proceed at a pace that allows us to take pictures, collaboratively identify wild flowers and enjoy the scenery and environment. Maps: Buckhorn Wilderness custom Correct Map or Tyler Peak USGS Quad. Meet at the Shelton Walmart at 7:30am. Moderate/ Leisurely pace. Limit of 12. Registration open now and closes 6/21
