8:30AM at the Preston Park & Ride (North side of I-90, Exit 22).
Carpooling to our meeting place and from there to our trailhead east of Snoqualmie Pass is encouraged. it's a 75 miles roundtrip drive to from Preston to the trailhead. For any members or guests travelling from the east of the Cascades we can fix a meeting place closer to the trailhead.
Hike 2 ½ miles south from Windy Pass on the Pacific Crest Trail to visit two pretty little lakes at the base of Tinkham Peak. The lakes, which are just above the PCT, are reached via a short well traveled boot path. Although the title of our day hike includes it we will not be visiting the Twin Lakes.
We will take the hike at a moderate pace. A fair level of fitness and stamina is required.
Access to the trailhead is via a bumpy forest road with potholes. Higher clearance vehicles with 4 or all wheel drive will manage this best. We will hopefully have at least 2 such vehicles to carpool in on our trip. Carpooling to our meeting place and from there to our trailhead east of Snoqualmie Pass is encouraged. it's a 90 miles roundtrip drive from Preston to the trailhead. For any members or guests travelling from the east of the Cascades we can fix a meeting place closer to the trailhead. All vehicles left at the trailhead require a NW Forest Pass.
