Day Hike - Tiger Mountain Trail

Tiger Tuesday Treks w/Tad. Leave work a bit early and come with us to explore the different Tiger Mtn Trails around the High Point Exit. At the same time working to stay in shape and enjoying just being out and about. Each hike will be somewhere between 2.5 and 4 miles long, at a pace of +/-2 mph on the uphills and 2.5-3 mph on the downhill. These will not be a stroll in the park or a trail run.

  • Moderate
  • Casual
  • Mileage: 3.45 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 987 ft
  • Maximum Currents: 25 kts
  • Pace: 3.21 Km/h

3:00 p.m.

We will meet by the Cableline TH, just off the freeway, right when you turn on the frontage road by the gate on your left, or at the main High Point TH.  I'll send out an email each Monday evening, letting everyone know which location will be the spot of the day.

I plan on trying to do these every Tuesday in the winter.
As stated in the summary, these hikes will be kind of "what do I feel like this week" hikes.  There are a number of trails on the north side of Tiger #3 that I like.  I like to try and stay away from the crowds, so we won't be doing the Instagram routes.  I take minimal breaks (usually in the middle of the hike) and rarely do clothing adjustments (Be Bold Start Cold), but I also am accommodating if needed (to a point).

We will be hiking at a brisk, but conversational pace (I talk fast?)

Weather- if it is snowing, we ain't going (snow on the trail is ok, bring spikes).  Other than that, the skies the limit, literally.  Ok, if there is a major downpour and things are totally miserable, I will probably stay home and look for Saturday adventures I haven't signed up for yet or post something myself.

Part of the reason I hike is to exercise the dog, so he will be accompanying me.  He is very well trained and probably will ignore everyone.  If dogs on the trail or in your proximity bother you,  I understand, but this might not be the hike for you.

BTW, we will NOT be doing Cable Line on any of these hikes.

  • Headlamp/ Head torch required.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather
  • Bring spikes if there is snow on the trail
  • Ten Essentials
  • Optional* you can bring a treat to share (a good way to get me to stop and take a break, just saying).

[Mountaineers trips are led by volunteer leaders, who want to share their enthusiasm for the outdoors, with others. On that note, last-minute cancellations will be frowned upon, and are considered "bad form"]

That is pretty much it.
