Day Hike - Tieton River Nature Trail

Late October is a beautiful (and frequently dry) time in this area. Join us for a casual hike to enjoy fall color and any wildlife we might see. Here is a preview from WTA's list of their recommendations for fall hikes: https://www.wta.org/go-outside/seasonal-hikes/fall-destinations/spectacular-fall-hikes-color

  • Easy
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 7.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 764 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 to 2.0 mph

Specific details about the hike, such as meeting time and location, will be sent to registered participants two to three days prior to the hike.

Plan for an easy paced hike to enjoy the scenery, fall color, and photography opportunities.  I'm looking forward to looking at seed heads from flowers that bloomed this summer to take a guess as to what they are.  This hike is relatively flat and follows the Tieton River upstream to a meadow which will be our turn-around spot.  When I completed this hike this spring my GAIA app showed 5.5 miles with 100 feet of elevation gain for the out-and-back route.  Come prepared with layers, rain gear, water, lunch, and snacks.  Weather conditions this time of year can be unpredictable and changing;  heavy rain in the forecast or snow on the passes will lead us to consider cancelling or rescheduling the hike.
