  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 9.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,272 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 7,828 ft
  • Pace: 2 mph average

Sunrise Visitor Center ready to hike at 8:30. Please allow adequate time for entrance into the park.

We'll do a loop hike, starting from Sunrise on the Sourdough Ridge Trail and returning on the Burroughs Mountain Trail.

This hike is rated as strenuous.  Please be conditioned to do this amount of gain and distance comfortably, at a steady moderate pace of 2mph.  In view of the high elevation starting at 6,400 ft. for those of us acclimatized to sea level living, 2,200 ft. of elevation gain in 5 miles can be a bit of a challenge. So, a high level of fitness and stamina is required. We will have breaks along the trail for water and snacks, clothing adjustments etc.

The trail is out in the open so please be prepared with sunscreen and lots of water.  There will be no water source available.

An email will be sent 2 days prior to the hike with more details.
