Cinnamon-bark of Ponderosa, smiling-face flowers of balsamroot, loud talk of rushing stream. Long-ish but mellow hike on the east slopes of the Cascades, south of Cle Elum.

We will hike up the north fork of Taneum Creek, which is a mellow trail. There is a short, steepish climb to the ridge, then a long ridge ramble and back down to the creek. Short walk along the road to our parked cars.
