Meeting time and placeFor those carpooling from Seattle we will meet at Ravenna P&R beneath I-5 north of 65th N and at the far north end of the P&R 7:00 AM sharp. Please e-mail the leader if you do not intend to meet at the P&R.

Driving instructions: From I-90 take exit 106 and cross over the freeway, heading north. You come to a 4 way stop intersection. Go straight ahead about 1/4 mile. Take a left onto Reecer Creek road. Stay on the main road which is paved except for the final three miles on a good graveled road. There is a short spur road left from road 3500 high on Table Mountain to Lion Rock. The final part of this spur road can be rough for passenger cars.

Leader's description: Naturalists outing. We will drive up Reecer Road from the foot of Table Mountain to Lion Rock at over 6000' and make a number of short hikes to appreciate the diversity of wildflowers, birds, and butterflies on Table Mountain. At this time of year Table Mountain/Reecer Road is ordinarily absolutely rich with wildflowers which change markedly as we gain 5000' of elevation. The short hikes we take (up to 1-1/2 miles) will be off trail in wildflower and sage meadows. A camera is highly recommended and birders will want to bring binoculars. Washington Native Plants Society plant lists detail an incredible 367 species of plants and wildflowers.

I have moved up the date for this activity to June 15th because the area is already largely melted out as of April 21st or about 2 to 3 weeks early.
