Panhandle Gap & Summerland (S) (GT 270 Mt Rainier East) (10.4 mi. r.t., 2940 gain). Hike up through forests past scenic Summerland meadow to a high rocky pass near the Frying Pan Glacier. Pace will be moderate. Expect some challenging trail above Summerland, maybe crossing some snow just below the gap, which is the highest point on the Wonderland Trail. Plan on an early start with carpool from Martin Way Park and Ride (Olympia). Sign up by Aug 26 directly with Michael Silverstein, 360 867 9010 or rhody1171@comcast.net
