Summerland & Panhandle Gap

Day Hike - Summerland

Summerland is a waypoint on the Wonderland Trail, but also a great day hike and naturalizing destination. Woods, meadow and alpine flowers abound, and the diversity is astounding. This naturalist hike will have frequent stops and slow hiking.

Meet at 9 AM at the parking area on Fryingpan Creek. Carpooling is encouraged since parking is at a premium.  If anyone has a Senior Northwest pass in the car this can be used for entry at White River.

This is a naturalist trip and priority will be given to members of the study group and studnets in the Intro to the Natural World Class. If you are in these groups you can assume you have leader's permission. It is also possible, depending on snow conditions to go above Summerland towards panhandle gap. This features some wonderful alpine flower areas and a simulated visit to the 'moon'. We may divide the group if some don't want to go above summerland.
