I had to change our destination due to persistent snowpack in the park. Both of the original trails were listed as 100% snow covered as of this morning! Instead of Bench and Snow Lakes, we'll be exploring Stevens Canyon (Hike 45 in "Day Hiking Mt Rainier"). Social pace, with plenty of stops for picture-taking. The Stevens Canyon waterfall hike is approximately 7 miles RT with 700 feet of elevation gain. We'll be hiking from the Box Canyon Picnic Area to Martha Falls. Depending on group interest, we may stop at Louise or Reflection Lake to take pictures on the way out. About the UTHRs: The UTHRs (say others) are a group aimed at bringing 20- & 30-something Mountaineers members together for fun and friendship. They believe that people in this age range should have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors with their peers!
