Day Hike - Squak Mountain: Bullitt Fireplace Access

Rain or shine, work off some pandemic fatigue in nature and get a little exercise on a close-in afternoon hike along forested trails of Squak Mountain. We will start at the Bullitt Fireplace TH, and take the gradual Chybinski trail up to Debbie's view for a break. We then loop our way down the Bullitt Fireplace TH back to our cars.

  • Easy/Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 4.7 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,100 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 1,800 ft
  • Pace: 2.0-2.25 mph

We meet 1:00pm at the Bullitt Fireplace Trailhead . The trailhead is at the hairpin turn on mountainside drive.  Parking is available on both sides of the road.  No pass required.

Driving Directions:

From I-90 (Exit 17) in Issaquah, head south on Front Street through the picturesque old part of town. At the traffic light at Sunset Way, turn right. In 0.2 miles cross SE Newport Way, then bear left onto Mountain Park Blvd SW. This street changes direction abruptly several times. In about 0.7 miles bear left onto Mountainside Dr SW. In about 0.3 miles, where the street makes a very sharp turn to the left, pull into the small parking area on the right. There is room for about six cars at the trailhead, and additional parking is available  along both shoulders of Mountainside Drive.

This is a fairly short loop hike at 4.0 miles, however there is 1,000 feet of elevation gain so it's rated as moderate.  We will be slower on the ascent, and will stop frequently to take pictures of the beautiful scenery.

We go rain, snow or shine.  It there is snow, please pack microspikes or similar traction device.  Aggressive weather will cancel.
