This clockwise loop hike starts and ends at Mowich Lake. The trail up to Knapsack pass is steep, rocky and rooty in places. On the north/backside of Knapsack Pass are a few sections with loose rock on steep slopes and there is some easy cross-country travel. We will connect up with the actual trail in Spray Park and explore part of Spray park before descending back to Mowich lake on the regular trail.
My goals for this trip are as follows:
1. Be safe.
2. Complete the loop.
3. Go for a swim in Mowich Lake afterwards
My expectations for trip participants are as follows:
1. Practice Leave No Trace principles.
2. Have the physical conditioning for this trip. The trail up to Knapsack pass is rough, steep and short. The pace on this part will be slower. Once on the regular trail in Spray Park the pace will increase to closer to 2mph and on the descent back to Mowich the pace will definitely be 2mph, possibly a bit faster in parts.
3. Be ok with travel on a trail that is rough, rocky, narrow and steep in places. There is some mild x-country travel on the backside of Knapsack Pass and one short section of steep travel on loose rock.
4. Be respectful of all participants.
