9:00 AM at S. 272nd and I-5 Park and Ride
This sampler is a quick tour of S. King County waterfront parks. We will meet in the NW corner of the S. 272nd Street Park and Ride Lot just off I-5 and car pool from there to our first stop at Marine View Park in the city of Normandy Park. Marine View Park has a short 1200' walk down a steep but paved trail to a great low tide beach with views of Mt. Rainier. A back trail leads past snags where eagles often roost. After driving past Des Moines Marina and beach park, the next stop will be Salt Water State Park, which has parking at the beach and walks both along the beach and on wooded trails. Our final stop will be at Dash Point State Park which offers miles of hiking and a long beach. After parking at the beach we will occupy a covered shelter for a brown bag lunch and bonfire. While the field trip ends at Dash Point, a map will be provided showing three King County Parks lake parks which can be visited on your own or individually on the way back to the park and ride. This is a half day trip ending at 1:00 PM. Don’t forget to bring lunch and your camera! Questions via e-mail please.
