Day Hike - Snoqualmie Tunnel

Come hike into spooky season with me as we enter a nearly pitch black tunnel that spans 2 miles!

  • Mileage: 5.0 mi
  • Pace: 1.5-2.0

Please meet at the trailhead off I-90 Exit 54, ready for introductions by 10am so we can hit the trail together right after.

This spooky season hike will be a flat out-and-back that goes through an old train tunnel that is two miles long and nearly pitch black. This is part of the much longer Palouse to Cascades trail.

We will settle in around 1.5-2.0 to meet participant needs and foster socializing, while also being mindful of the low light environment.

Our main break will be outside the far end of the tunnel. Length will be dependent on weather and group comfort, but allowing time for snacks/pics/bio breaks.

Gear: Headlamp, flashlight, or lantern REQUIRED. The tunnel can be significantly cooler and breezier than outside temps, as well as water dripping from the ceiling in areas--jacket and/or warm layers and gloves strongly recommended.

Restroom: flush toilets in trailhead parking lot. Vault toilet available at turn-around point on trail.

Pass Required: Discover Pas

More details will be sent in the Hello Hiker email after registration closes, including details of the hike and directions to the trailhead.
