August 21, 2005, Sun. - Snoqualmie Tunnel (M) (GT Snoqualmie Pass #207) NWFP 9.0 mi, 700' gain. Moderate Pace. Meet 11:00 a.m. Annette Lake TH, exit 47, I-90. 1 hour. Flashlights/Headlamps/warm clothing req. for tunnel. John Faley, (206) 851-1932. (s8/10-8/18). Fifty percent (4.5 miles) of our hike will be inside the Snoqualmie Tunnel. There are no lights in the tunnel. The Milwakee Road began construction of the railroad tunnel in 1912 and completed work in 1914. It is the nation's longest tunnel open to non-motorized traffic. We will share the tunnel with other hikers and mountain bikers.
