Day Hike - Silver Creek Way Trail

Upper Silver Lake and the saddle overlooking the Big Quilcene river valley.

  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,700 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 5,800 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2.0 mph

Meet at the trailhead at 08:30.  To reach the trailhead, proceed as if going to the Tubal Cain TH (https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/olympic/recreation/hiking/recarea/?recid=48097&actid=50), then continue about .6 mile up the road. Trailhead is on the left. There's a parking area along the road on the right.

We'll continue past the lake & climb up to the saddle (approx. 5800') above the lake that overlooks the Big Quilcene valley, Mt. Constance, and Gargoyle Ridge.

This is a moderate-to-strenuous hike, depending on your conditioning level. Expect a pace of around 1.5mph on the way up, and a little faster on the way back down. We won't be in a hurry. However, it is a long hike and the trail is a little rough.
