Day Hike - Seattle Waterfront

Night hike the Elliott Bay Trail from the Elliott Bay Marina through Pier 91 to Pike Place Market. Watch a classic Seattle sunset along the waterfront through four Seattle Parks.

  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 5.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 60 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 103 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 mph

Meet shortly before 6pm at Street End in the Elliott Bay Marina in the guest parking area .  Do not park in the registered parking area.  We'll attempt a return vehicle for drivers from Pike Place Market.

The Elliott Bay Trail is featured in Craig Romano's Urban Trails Seattle (#15, Mountaineers Books, 2018):

"While the Elliott Bay Trail is part of a large network of interconnecting bike paths and routes used heavily by commuting cyclists, it should not be ignored by bipeds.  The best part of this path for walking and running is the middle 1.6 mile section through shore-hugging Myrtle Edwards and Centennial parks, which includes separate paths for bikes and pedestrians.  This section also adjoins the Olympic Sculpture Park, a wonderful place for walking and running as well as admiring some neat pieces of art.  And finally, this stretch of trial is one of the absolute places in the city for sunset strolls."

There is currently a well marked pedestrian detour around Centennial Park (Expedia construction) but the ongoing demolition of the Alaskan Way Viaduct is no obstacle to our hike.  Sunset is 7:15pm -- no promises on weather!
