We’ll follow nicely graded switchbacks up the SW side of Sauk Mtn. to increasingly scenic views and spectacular flower meadows on the way to a former lookout site at its 5,537-foot summit. From there, a panoramic view encompasses Glacier Peak, Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan, Hidden Lake Peaks, and the Picket Range. Sauk Lake radiates from below. Meet at Colonial Creek CG entrance lot at 8:30 a.m. or at Rockport SP picnic area lot on SR-20 at 9:30 a.m. Register with club headquarters or online. This hike is part of Annual North Cascades Car Camp from August 25-27, Mon.-Wed. Join us for three days of hiking in the spectacular North Cascades. Explore the unique geology of this region. We will camp two nights at Colonial Creek Campground just off the North Cascades Highway. It is suggested that participants also camp Sunday night due to the travel distance and early hike start time the following day. Easy hikes may be led by a second leader concurrently with more strenuous hikes. Register with clubhouse or online. Glen Strachan, 425-869-8094 or glenshgi@msn.com NC
