Day Hike - Robinson & Ainsley Canyons

Ponderosa pines and wildflowers on the sunny side of the Cascades. Wide open country makes for easy cross-country travel.

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 12.0
  • Elevation Gain: 2,000 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 on average, faster on the downhill, slower on uphill

This hike follows a mix of old roads, game trails and some easy cross-country travel in open forest and meadows.  Expect ponderosa pines and flowers.  Route involves hiking up to the head of Robinson canyon then back to the trailhead along the ridge to the north on the Page Pasture road.   Mileage is 11-12 rt.

My goals for this trip are as follows:

1. Be safe.

2.  Complete the loop.

3.  Have fun.

4.  Enjoy the wildflowers.

My expectations for trip participants are:

1. Follow Leave No Trace principles.

2. Be respectful of all participants.

3. Have the necessary physical conditioning for this trip.  You should be able to maintain an average pace of 2.0 mph for the 11-12 miles RT and modest elevation gain climbing up the canyon.

4. Have the necessary gear to be safe and comfortable.  You will need to carry all your own water and be prepared for intense sun (hat, glasses, sunscreen, etc) as well as long pants/sleeves for ticks.
